In 2018, several lifelong friends were traveling to their alma mater Penn State for a football game. For the plane ride, they had each brought a bottle of their favorite tequila. Although each tequila had its charm, none of them seemed to have it all. After sampling each bottle ranging from small batch handcrafted tequila to well-known high volume production tequila, a challenge was made.
“Why can’t you make a small batch handcrafted tequila that is authentic but create a taste profile that doesn’t burn when you drink it?” Secretly the challenge was accepted and 4 years later in the summer of 2022, Santa Familia Añejo Cristalino Batch 001 was created and shipped to the United States.
We believe in more than just crafting exceptional tequila; we are dedicated to empowering our community. Through fair trade practices and fair wages for our farmers, we support ethical labor conditions and promote agave plant biodiversity. We also actively collaborate with charities to make a positive impact on local communities, creating a sustainable future while preserving our rich heritage.
At Santa Familia, sustainable tequila-making is our guiding principle. We carefully select only overripe agaves, to create top-tier tequila while preserving the land and agave biodiversity. Our commitment extends to responsible land stewardship, rejecting chemicals in favor of organic methods, crop rotation, and allowing the land to recover between agave growth cycles.
